CHALLENGE PROGRAM: TEST DRIVE THE BROTHERS' LIFE - VOLUNTEER FOR 2 WEEKS IN BALGO HILLS, WA

The De La Salle Brothers are inviting young men (20 - 35 years) to 'test drive the Brother's life' by signing up for a two week Challenge Program to Balgo Hills in May 2010.

The program will give participants a great opportunity to live and work with the Brothers and engage in high impact work with indigenous youth at the Catholic school and at BoysTown.

Balgo Hills has been described as one of the most important Aboriginal art centres in Australia. It is located on the northern edge of the Tanami and Great Sandy Deserts and is one of the most isolated Australian desert settlements.

In Balgo Hills, the Brothers run the local Catholic school and an adult education centre. The Brothers also assist through BoysTown which runs employment and community engagement programs and gives young adults an opportunity to learn trade skills and gain employment.

This program offers volunteers an incredible opportunity to learn about the mission and spirituality of the De La Salle Brothers and to experience the challenges and diversity of life in outback Australia. Broaden your understanding of the Brothers' life and work while learning about and appreciating Aboriginal history and culture.

Date: Saturday 15th May - Saturday 29th May 2010

Cost: Travel, insurance and personal expenses (meals and accommodation provided).
